Company Update
The South Florida-based property developer and entrepreneur lent his professional expertise to co-author an essay explaining the process of transforming a good business idea into a feasible company.
MIAMI, FL / ACCESSWIRE / April 7, 2022 / When Pedro Martin, owner and co-founder of the real estate development firm Terra Group, was approached by the writing staff of an online news periodical primarily aimed at Floridians to co-author an article about how to build a business from scratch, he agreed enthusiastically, eager to share his professional insights with the public. The article, which is titled Pedro Martin of Miami Knows How to Turn an Idea Into a Business, was published on February 21, 2022.

At the outset of the essay, Pedro addresses the research phase of launching a new company, explaining that the founder of any startup can greatly benefit from analyzing how their competition performs. "By examining the three main competitors, an entrepreneur can see how the business works on a practical scale," he writes, adding, "Online reviews are helpful during this process because customers may identify hidden problems. Once a consumer discovers a hidden problem, it is often worth questioning whether a solution to that specific issue would generate more income. Problems from products or services generally create an opportunity for niche businesses."
Further along in the article, in a section dealing with that most necessary of components to starting a new company, the business plan, Pedro Martin takes special care in broaching the subject of financial assessment, stating, "Before starting any business, a financial assessment should be done. This includes any future costs in addition to present income. Target goals and income estimates are essential during this phase. A financial analysis compares budgets to competitors to come up with realistic numbers. This will help a business owner make informed decisions for the company. Financial analysis typically occurs every week to stay on top of hidden or surprise expenses."

About Pedro Martin:
Pedro Martin is a real estate developer based out of Miami, Florida. Born in Cuba but raised in the United States, Pedro's early academic pursuits gave little indication of his later career in high-end real estate development. After completing a BA in engineering from the University of Florida, he entered the professional world with the defense contracting company Martin Marietta (now known as Lockheed Martin) where he worked on various hi-tech electronics and missile systems. After some self-reflection, Pedro decided to go back to school to study law, once again at the University of Florida, graduating in 1978. He then established himself as a real estate and banking lawyer for the firm Greenberg Traurig, where he would stay for the next 25 years.
Drawing inspiration from his legal experience representing various financial institutions and real estate developers, Pedro Martin sought another career change around the turn of the millennium. He teamed up with his son David Martin to co-found Terra in 2001. The father and son team started small, with only a single condominium in Miami Beach. However, the company grew quickly, and is now responsible for the development of many housing developments, commercial spaces, and skyscrapers all around the region of South Florida, and boasts a portfolio worth more than $8 billion.
These days, Pedro Martin continues his work at Terra. Although he is no longer the company's CEO, he retains his position as owner and chairman. He is now focused on ensuring that he leaves Terra in a strong and steady position when he retires.
