The new hearing aid's revolutionary design and microphone placement provide improved speech-in-noise reception

TORONTO, ON / ACCESSWIRE / February 8, 2024 / Widex, one of the world's leading hearing aid manufacturers, launched Widex SmartRICTM, a ground-breaking receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aid that enhances directionality and speech targeting. SmartRIC's innovative L-shaped hearing aids are placed higher up on the ear, making the angle between the two microphones closer to horizontal, resulting in clearer speech in noisy environments. This enhancement is designed to help wearers engage in social situations and live their lives more fully.

"The new SmartRIC will help users live a full and active life by providing them with the most natural sound experience," said Andre Marcoux, General Manager, Widex Canada. "The SmartRIC's innovative design is intended to provide wearers with greater benefit in difficult listening situations so that they can continue to hear and interact with others when surrounding noise is present."

Widex recently conducted a global survey to examine the hearing aid experience of a diverse group of hearing aid users in 18 countries around the world. With almost 4,000 respondents, the survey found that nearly 75 per cent of Widex users expressed ease in getting accustomed to the Widex natural sound. More than half of the respondents also agreed that Widex has helped them experience positive changes in daily-life parameters that have a direct relationship with hearing, such as effective communication, social interaction, and quality of life. Of those surveyed, 87 per cent confirmed they are likely to recommend Widex to others and request them next time they need new hearing aids.1

Widex's SmartRIC incorporates notable features of Widex technology, providing a comprehensive, natural and comfortable hearing experience. The hearing aid features PureSoundTM and ZeroDelayTM technology for the fastest signal processing in a digital hearing aid.; Widex MySound™ for AI-assisted personalized control; TruAcousticsTM for tailored amplification between ear canals, and Speech Enhancer for focused conversations.

Crafted with user convenience in mind, Widex SmartRIC is the company's longest-lasting rechargeable hearing aid, offering extended wear and more streaming time, with one charge providing up to 37 hours of use. Wearers on the move will benefit from the included fast-charging case - Widex' first-ever portable charging solution. The sleek, compact case can fully charge the hearing aids in four hours or add eight hours of continuous use through a 30-minute fast charge. The case offers five full charges and fits into a pocket or small bag, empowering wearers with hassle-free charging, mobility, and peace of mind. Widex also offers a wide range of accessories to maximize the SmartRIC experience, including Widex TV Play, Widex Sound Assist™ and Widex SoundConnect.
