FEDERAL WAY, WA / ACCESS Newswire / September 22, 2026 / Marquis Who's Who is proud to interview and honor Davena Longshore, CIHC, MIS, MS, MSCP, PhD, for her distinguished contributions to behavioral health, clinical and forensic psychology, research, and first responder wellness. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility and prominence in a field are taken into account during the selection process. Dr. Longshore's recognition reflects a multifaceted career dedicated to developing practical mental health solutions for individuals, families, law enforcement professionals and communities.

Since 2024, Dr. Longshore has served as chief executive officer of The Cummings Foundation for Behavioral Health. In this role, she leads a research team producing publishable studies, serves as lead researcher, negotiates contracts with service providers, guides organizational strategy through board meetings and participates in funding and investment discussions. She also evaluates strategic initiatives designed to expand the foundation's impact within its target communities.
Central to Dr. Longshore's work is a proprietary mental health and wellness model she developed specifically for law enforcement officers and first responders. In her Marquis Who's Who interview, she explained that the model was created by examining basic human needs alongside mental health conditions frequently affecting first responder populations, including substance abuse, depression, anxiety and trauma-related disorders. "I designed my model to meet those needs and be a preventative model to keep law enforcement from acquiring those mental health disorders," she said.
She shared in her Marquis Who's Who interview that the program was also designed to address a gap created when agencies were required to establish wellness initiatives without receiving detailed guidance on how to implement them. Dr. Longshore developed a model that could provide agencies with structure while helping them identify and secure resources for mental health support. The approach has been implemented by agencies across the United States and is intended to improve officer wellness while contributing to reductions in the use of force within communities.
Before becoming chief executive officer, Dr. Longshore served as director of psychological wellness and research for The Cummings Foundation for Behavioral Health. Her earlier clinical career included work with California Correctional Health Care Services, where she served as a critical incident responder in a level four, double-maximum-security prison and intervened with suicidal inmates. Her work in crisis intervention earned recognition from the U.S. Department of Justice.
Dr. Longshore also conducted competency-to-stand-trial and competency restoration evaluations while working with Wellpath and previously performed neuropsychological and forensic evaluations for clients with limited financial resources. She explained in her Marquis Who's Who interview that during one case, a pro bono neuropsychological assessment contributed to the release of an individual who had been wrongly accused. She later received recognition from the California State Senate for her work in the community.
Dr. Longshore said she attributes her success to perseverance, education and a deeply held belief that her work should help others overcome adversity. Throughout her career, she has sought additional skills whenever confronted with new challenges, viewing education as a practical way to increase her ability to serve patients, organizations and communities. Her guiding professional principle is that the patient must remain the priority and that every person is entitled to dignity and basic human rights.
Looking ahead, Dr. Longshore intends to broaden her work beyond first responder wellness to include gun violence prevention, policy development and support for families affected by intimate partner violence. She is also developing social media initiatives designed to foster healthier online environments and reduce the anxiety, depression and harmful content that can affect adults and children.
"Dr. Davena Longshore exemplifies the caliber of innovative behavioral health leaders and researchers that Marquis Who's Who is proud to chronicle," the editorial team stated. "Her ability to combine clinical psychology, forensic expertise, research and organizational leadership reflects a career devoted to creating practical solutions for some of society's most complex mental health challenges." Through its interview and recognition of Dr. Longshore, Marquis Who's Who celebrates a professional whose work continues to advance first responder wellness, crisis intervention and community-based behavioral health.
