Mr. Moran serves as president and chief executive officer of Classical Education Management LLC, founder of Pineapple Cove Academy Inc., and founder of Pineapple Cove Classical Academy. He has led Classical Education Management since 2017, Pineapple Cove Academy and Pineapple Cove Classical Academy since 2014, and Pineapple Cove Academy as a business owner since 2006. He also serves as president of JAC Development LLC.
Through Classical Education Management, Mr. Moran and his team support three classical charter schools in Brevard County, Florida. The organization provides services in finance, human resources, compliance, governance, leadership development, food service and new-school startup. It also offers training in Orton-Gillingham-based phonics, Singapore Math, classical pedagogy and classroom best practices. Two of the three schools served by the organization have been designated Florida High-Performing Charter Schools.
In an interview with Marquis Who's Who, Mr. Moran says his path into education began after a career in tradeshows, retail and wholesaling. While listening to a business radio program, he heard an Australian entrepreneur discuss purchasing daycare centers. The conversation inspired him to enter the service industry and apply his philosophy of providing quality products and services at a reasonable price to early childhood education.
Mr. Moran opened Pineapple Cove Academy as a preschool, and the first school quickly enrolled approximately 420 children. That success encouraged him to expand into charter education and establish a management company to oversee operations, support school leaders and preserve the culture developed throughout the organization. Today, he oversees three charter schools, with approximately 4,000 children reported on waiting lists.
A hands-on leader, Mr. Moran maintains a regular presence at the schools and places particular importance on relationships with parents, employees and community partners. He is known for identifying strengths in others, including abilities they may not yet recognize in themselves, and helping team members grow into positions where they can achieve exceptional results. He considers the establishment and management of highly regarded community schools to be the defining accomplishment of his career.
Mr. Moran is also collaborating with local policymakers and developers on expansion opportunities. Among his most ambitious projects is Wave at Pineapple Cove Academy, a planned 50-meter, Olympic-size swimming facility estimated at approximately $6 million to $7 million. The facility is expected to support school competitions while serving as a community resource on weekends and during the summer.
During his Marquis Who's Who interview, Mr. Moran said the organization is building more schools and developing a trade school. He also reported plans to enter the dog daycare industry, with the first location potentially opening within six months. Mr. Moran described increased attention for Pineapple Cove and its approach to classical education, including a visit from U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon and coverage by The Washington Post. He also said a London newspaper was expected to visit in September.
Mr. Moran earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and is a member of the Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce. He donates to local charitable organizations, sponsors other schools and enjoys scuba diving, water sports and weightlifting. He attributes his entrepreneurial drive in part to his grandfather, who emigrated from Germany, began working in a bakery and later established a successful bakery of his own.
