ROCHESTER, UK / ACCESSWIRE / May 29, 2024 / Andrew Keeping, celebrated classical guitarist and CEO of FASD Awareness, unveils pragmatic initiatives fostering inclusivity in the music industry, signaling a transformative shift in neurodiversity advocacy.

Andrew Keeping, known for his virtuosity as a classical guitarist, is pioneering an initiative to bring about a more inclusive environment at the intersection of music and neurodiversity. As Chief Executive of FASD Awareness and a Director of the Independent Society of Musicians, he announces practical measures aimed at reshaping the way society perceives and engages with music.
Beyond his musical prowess, Andrew's two decades of fostering children with complex needs and learning disabilities led him to collaborate with therapists to develop pragmatic approaches that empower individuals with neurodivergent profiles. These initiatives facilitate improved cognitive functioning, social interaction, and personal growth, making music accessible to a broader audience.
Keeping's commitment extends to creating platforms for disabled artists. He has organized inclusive music festivals and talent showcases, providing a supportive space for musicians with disabilities to showcase their talents and connect with industry professionals.
In his role at FASD Awareness, Keeping has spearheaded impactful campaigns, including #BeAware, a series of educational films and case studies, a series of online webinars with many of the world's leading FASD experts, and training aimed at increasing global awareness of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders. This initiative sheds light on the science behind FASD and offers a much-needed voice to those with the "lived experience."

"I believe in practical transformation," Keeping states. "Through music and advocacy, we aim to create an inclusive world where everyone has the opportunity to find their unique voice." Keeping's initiatives have gained recognition, with accolades such as the High Sheriff of Kent's Award in 2019 for FASD Awareness, Honorary Associateship of the Royal Academy of Music in 2001, and Fellowship of the ISM in 2017.
