TORONTO, ON / ACCESSWIRE / May 9, 2023 / Autonomous robots have assisted with everyday logistics, from last-mile deliveries to snow removal and lawn-mowing. But more important than the ability of these robots to perform tasks is the ability to interact with dynamic environments like shopping malls, hotels or airports with dense populations, obstructions and multiple floors.
To date, there have been no Canadian robots that interact with elevators to perform tasks on numerous floors, until now.
Synkar Autonomous Services Inc. is an autonomous delivery startup that provides Robot as a Service (RaaS) for Closed Communities, in-company delivery services, B2C delivery apps, gated community security and public maintenance services. Named by MOVE 2020 as one of the 20 most innovative startups, Synkar is the first startup in Canada to enhance its fleet of autonomous delivery robots with the capability to perceive, analyze and interact with elevators.
With its "SARA" SDK elevator communication interface, Synkar robots can call elevators, park inside them and transition between floors without human intervention. In addition to the highly adaptive API named "SARA," all Synkar robots have ten cameras, several radars and ultrasonic sensors to collect information about their environment. Also equipped with perception and mapping stacks, these robots can detect objects and estimate depth for a detailed understanding and virtual map of their surroundings to plan routes, react to people, vehicles and obstacles, and interact with elevators for multi-floor tasks.
Synkar has provided companies in Canada, Brazil and Ireland with autonomous robots for over three years. With the addition of the elevator communication interface, Synkar has expanded its capabilities to meet the evolving needs of its customers.
