After qualifying by voter petition, Dr. Matt Gromlich enters the race with more than 100 volunteers mobilized across all 15 parishes of Louisiana's Fourth Congressional District.
SHREVEPORT, LA / ACCESS Newswire / August 7, 2026 / Dr. Matt Gromlich has officially requalified as a candidate for Louisiana's Fourth Congressional District, where he will challenge incumbent Speaker of the House Mike Johnson in this fall's election.
A professor at Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS), Gromlich holds a doctorate and has built his career as an educator and researcher dedicated to solving complex problems through collaboration, data, and community engagement. His campaign says those same principles have shaped a grassroots effort focused on listening to voters and bringing people together around practical solutions for Louisiana.
Unlike many candidates who simply pay the qualifying fee, Gromlich earned his place on the ballot by collecting voter signatures through Louisiana's petition process, a milestone the campaign says reflects the broad community support it has built throughout northwest Louisiana.
Over the past several months, Gromlich has traveled throughout all 15 parishes of Louisiana's Fourth Congressional District, meeting with families, educators, veterans, farmers, small business owners, faith leaders, and community organizations to better understand the issues affecting the region.
