ANAHEIM, CA / ACCESSWIRE / January 20, 2016 / Anthony Mattana, Founder of Hooke Audio and inventor of the Hooke VERSE - the world's first consumer mobile 3D audio Bluetooth recording system - has joined the NAMM 2016 panel, Audio for Augmented and Virtual Realities, to take place on Thursday, January 21st at 3:00PM in the Anaheim Convention Center for the National Association of Music Merchants.
Moderated by veteran deal-maker Steven Masur, Partner at CDAS Venture Law Group, the session will explore the coming wave in wearable tech, virtual reality platforms, and 3D audio software destined to forever change the way the world consumes audiovisual content.
Over the next five years the technological advances and studies revolving around sound and how we experience and engage with audio is going to transform our lives. Surprisingly, our smartphones still record only in mono. The Audio for Augmented and Virtual Realities panel will address the ways audio will influence the direction of AR and VR as well as some tools and applications we can look forward to for sound in these new realities.
In addition to Mattana and moderator Masur, session panelists will include Edgar Choueiri, Director of Princeton University's Program in Engineering Physics and founder of the 3D3A Lab studying the fundamental aspects of spatial hearing in humans; Peter Giokaris, senior engineer at Oculus VR; John Hendicott, founder and lead creator of 3D audio projects at Aurelia Soundworks; and Lance Reichert, an engineer for Jaunt VR.
The stylish Hooke VERSE is a pair of wireless headphones that incorporate binaural microphones designed to record 3D audio. Specially placed microphones in each ear record audio the way the ear actually captures sound. Using Hooke Audio's free mobile app, the Hooke Verse proprietary Bluetooth codex allows users to record 3D stereo audio on most smartphones. Unlike Surround Sound technology, the Hooke Audio system does not require multiple speakers or special headphones. So anyone can play the 3D audio experience on any stereo headphone or speaker.
The National Association of Music Merchants is one of the world's leading music and technology industry events. A not-for-profit association, NAMM promotes the pleasures and benefits of making music and strengthens the $17 billion global music products industry. The association serves as a hub for people wanting to seek out the newest innovations in musical products, recording technology, sound, and lighting. NAMM's activities and programs are designed to promote music making to people of all ages. NAMM 2016 takes place Thursday, January 21st through Sunday, January 24th in Anaheim, California.
"Hooke Audio addresses an essential step in AR and VR spatial sound, which allows you to hear things the way you see them and it packages it in an intuitive, user-friendly product like the Hooke Verse. Anthony Mattana's creation will change the way we interact with audio in our lives. This represents a big shift in how we capture sound by re-imaging the microphone through hardware and software. Binaural recording is just one part of this exciting panel that will address the future for 3D audio, virtual reality, social media, and how it will shape content and music in the future." - Masur.
"I am excited to be part of NAMM. 2016 is the year of 3D audio. Steven Masur's panel focusing on the coming technology wave that will allow us to see and hear content just as we see and hear it in real life. The unprecedented technological advances we anticipate in the area of audio, virtual reality, and augmented reality are amazing - we're going to experience content in a whole new way and audio will be the glue that brings it all together." - Mattana.
