The New Technology Works With Farms to Turn Methane Gas into Clean, Efficient Natural Gas
LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / Arpil 5, 2016 / Remooable Fuel has launched with the aim to help farms effectively process their methane gas into Renewable Natural Gas (RNG). The natural gas can be used for a variety of power needs, and can help farms make money through recycling one of their biggest and most hazardous byproducts.
According to the United Nations, animal waste on farms generates 18 percent of greenhouse gas emissions, and 37 percent of methane emissions. Methane, which is a byproduct of animal waste digestion, is more than 25 times more powerful than carbon dioxide at trapping heat in the atmosphere.
Scientists predict that the world's growing dependence on livestock is one of the biggest contributors to global warming, and the byproduct of hydrogen sulfide is one of the most dangerous pollutants to neighboring communities.
"The amount of manure produced by animals raised for food in the U.S. is roughly 100 times the amount of sewage treated by our municipal wastewater plants," says the website. "This raw manure is not processed through any sort of waste treatment facility such as with human waste. Left untreated, the outgassing biogas harms the environment while allowing a valuable potential fuel source to escape unharvested."
The process works by mixing biogas with water in a system of agitators built into a long pressurized pipe. The absorption pipe is submerged in a stock pond to cool the mixture as it travels through it; thereby facilitating the absorption of the CO2 into the process "feed water." The methane is then drawn off, and the feed water is cycled into a second stock pond. The CO2 is desorbed in that pond, and the new clean process water is drawn from the bottom of that pond to starts the process over again. Finally, the resulting product is dried and loaded into a tank truck that can be sold back to the power grid.

As a startup, Remooable Fuel is facing the huge costs of getting their technology into the hands of as many farms as possible. So far they are working with 3 dairy farms in Wisconsin, but their goal is to expand nationwide, and are seeking donations on Indiegogofrom environmentally conscious backers to facilitate widespread adoption.
