SAN FRANCISCO, CA / ACCESSWIRE / February 9, 2022 / Great products go far beyond the material shell in which they take shape. They transcend their form and utility to represent an experience, one that forges a strong emotional bond with the people using them.

The best products don't feel like products at all. They feel like magic.
Milkinside, a Silicon Valley-based product design team, strives to create magical moments for millions of people around the world. Whether that is through elegant motion design in a smartphone operating system, an immersive augmented reality experience or an intuitive yet futuristic interaction with an artificial intelligence, the ultimate goal is the same: to evoke feelings of joy in the people on the other side of the screens.

Co-founders Gleb Kuznetsov and Jeshua Nanthakumar launched Milkinside in 2018 to be a different type of design agency, one that favored long-term partnerships with a select number of carefully chosen clients.
"The standard agency model has built-in limitations on creativity," says Kuznetsov. "It is hard to avoid, especially for shorter-term projects with tight deadlines. We wanted an ability to focus on the end-to-end product experience, which gives our team the space to think big and dream."
The global team at Milkinside reflects this expansive approach. Any number of user-experience designers, visual designers, product specialists, CGI artists and storytellers may come together on a single project to ensure a diversity of thoughts, opinions and skills. Finding the right balance is important, but providing the freedom to explore in the initial stages is critical.

"For innovation to take place at a product design level, creatives must be inspired and unrestrained. They must be free to imagine the future. You can't just start with a set of product requirements," says Kuznetsov. "Otherwise the end result will look like everything else."

At Milkinside, they call this initial phase a Discovery process. Part research, part brainstorming, part prototyping and part elimination, the result is almost always a tighter partnership and a shared understanding between stakeholders on both sides.
"I very often get accused of falling in love with projects, and rightly so," says Nanthakumar. "Typically, by the time we've designed our first screen, we have spent hundreds of hours getting to know our partners, researching the industry, identifying opportunities and imagining the possibilities. Finding a sense of purpose is never a challenge."
One particular area of passion at Milkinside is the automotive industry. Its breadth of experience stretches from building new interactions for the infotainment system to designing futuristic EV car models and imagining the future of transportation in the year 2040. Their innovative designs and solutions have led to partnerships with some of the world's largest automotive brands, including Honda and Mitsubishi.

They recently partnered with Airbus to develop the award-winning iFlyA380 iOS app. Users can search and book Airbus A380 flights, and tour the cabin in augmented reality prior to boarding. In flight, the app gathers real-time data on speed and altitude, and allows passengers to point their phone toward the window to discover places of interest directly on the ground below. Since initial launch, the application has evolved as part of a larger platform, Tripset, that encompasses end-to-end transportation beyond the aircraft. It is an application that elevates the travel experience and satisfies Milkinside's overarching goal: to create incredible moments for the people using their clients' products.
"We do not just focus on one aspect of an application," Kuznetsov explains. "We focus on the interaction, the design, scalability, incorporating artificial intelligence and many other parts. Everything has to work together in a consistent way."

Frequently at Milkinside, clients will engage with the team to reimagine the future of a specific industry or market segment. In just the past year, this has included a look into the future of insurance, banking, ATM's, wearables, automotive and artificial intelligence.
"The future-focused work in traditional industries is often the most fun," Nanthakumar states. "It's counterintuitive, but we often find there is more room to imagine. Almost always, we're borrowing ideas and principles from other industries we've worked in."
Regardless of the application or end product, it is never simply about a set of designs or client deliverables. Instead, it is about transforming products into experiences. Seeing people around the world forge a personal connection with their designs.
"Since I was young, I've felt the magic in my favorite products," Kuznetsov says. "I dreamed of creating the same feeling for the younger generation, and I hope we'll always be doing just that."
