Summit will examine the role of Africa and the Middle East in shaping a changing global order
NEW YORK CITY, NY / ACCESS Newswire / September 23, 2026 / Kamel Ghribi, Executive Chairman of the ECAM Council, will host the organisation's eighth summit on 24 September at The Plaza Hotel, convening leaders in New York as world leaders gather for the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Held under the theme Shaping the New Global Order: Africa, the Middle East and the Architecture of Tomorrow, the summit brings together representatives from government, international institutions, business and civil society to consider how dialogue can lead to practical cooperation at a time of profound global change.
Under Ghribi's chairmanship, the discussions will place African leadership at the centre of the debate on global governance, economic transformation and security. They will also examine the Middle East's role in advancing regional stability, investment and shared prosperity. Across both regions, the summit will explore how partnerships can turn resources, knowledge, capital and technology into lasting value for people and communities.
"The architecture of tomorrow cannot be designed by a few and inherited by the rest," said Ghribi. "Africa and the Middle East must have the opportunity to help shape it. At a moment when divisions are deepening, our responsibility is to keep dialogue open and give it purpose: to build partnerships that create opportunity, strengthen stability and make prosperity possible for more people."
The programme will include the presentation of a declaration of intent for the ECAM Charter on Africa, which sets out principles for African leadership, local value creation, long-term partnership and measurable results.
Convening the summit during UN General Assembly week reflects Ghribi's conviction that international cooperation must extend beyond declarations. Its measure, he has said, is the trust it builds, the opportunities it creates and the progress people can see in their own lives.
