LONDON, UK / ACCESSWIRE / April 18, 2023 / On April 8, 2023, HYDN identified a critical vulnerability in SushiSwap's RouteProcessor2 contract that put large amounts of user funds at risk. HYDN's real-time monitoring system and collaboration with the SushiSwap team led to a significant reduction in the attack's impact, with HYDN rescuing over $600,000 in user funds.

Upon discovering the vulnerability, HYDN's team contacted SushiSwap's Head Chef, Jared Grey, and a joint War Room was established. Both teams worked together to develop a temporary fix and devise a strategy to save as many user funds as possible. SushiSwap disabled the affected frontend, whilst HYDN performed a white-hat rescue by draining funds and front-running any other attacks.

With the contract deployed and funds drained, HYDN was able to save over $600,000 worth of user funds across multiple chains. The vulnerability stemmed from an approval bug in the RouteProcessor2 contract, which allowed an attacker to steal assets from anyone who had approved the contract. Fortunately, the vulnerability's potential impact was limited due to the rapid response of HYDN and SushiSwap.

All rescued funds were deposited to HYDN's labeled white-hat wallet. At the time of writing, HYDN has rescued over $600,000 of user assets and continues to protect SushiSwap users from attack and further losses. SushiSwap is committed to making all users whole, with the remaining stolen funds being recovered by the SushiSwap team.

HYDN and SushiSwap's collaboration demonstrates the value of proactive security monitoring with HYDN's real-time fraud prevention product HYDN Prevent available for beta signups now.
