Acquisition adds proven continuous flow ultracentrifugation technology trusted by the world's leading vaccine producers
CLEARWATER, FL / ACCESS Newswire / August 14, 2026 / CARR Biosystems, a provider of separation and bioprocessing technologies for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, today announced it has acquired Alfa Wassermann (AW), a leader in continuous flow ultracentrifugation and fluid handling solutions, from Turytes S.p.A.. The transaction closed on August 10th.
For more than 60 years, AW has designed, manufactured and serviced continuous flow ultracentrifugation systems used to separate, purify and concentrate viruses, virus-like particles and viral vectors in the production of vaccines, gene therapies and other biologics. Its systems are used in the majority of the world's influenza vaccine production and support a global base of customers across the bioprocess and pharmaceutical industries.
Together, the companies are better positioned to globally support biopharmaceutical manufacturers with a wider range of separation and purification solutions across established vaccine and fast-growing cell and gene therapy applications with the technical depth, responsiveness, and reliability they depend on. The acquisition pairs AW's domain expertise in continuous flow ultracentrifugation with CARR Biosystems' commercial and operational scale, adding a proven capability for virus and fine-particle purification to CARR's separations offering.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
