State program uses loan-loss guarantees to expand financing access for low- to moderate-income homeowners rebuilding after the Los Angeles wildfires
LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESS Newswire / September 30, 2026 / Today, Lendistry Home Loans announced its approval as a construction lender for California's new Disaster Rebuilding Assistance Program. Established through Governor Gavin Newsom's 2026-27 state budget, the program provides loan-loss guarantees to participating lenders and reduced-interest financing for eligible homeowners, helping fill the financial gaps that thousands of wildfire-displaced households continue to face.
"Lendistry Home Loans is proud to be an approved construction lender for Governor Newsom's Disaster Rebuilding Assistance Program," says Everett K. Sands, CEO of Lendistry Home Loans. "With applications for our Disaster Recovery Mortgage opening soon, we remain focused on supporting the thousands of homeowners who are still displaced because they lack access to financing. Collaboration among the state, lenders, and other mission-driven organizations will be essential to helping these families rebuild and return home."
In announcing the Disaster Rebuilding Assistance Program, Governor Newsom highlighted the need to "help families get back home and communities rebuild faster." The program builds on collaborative efforts among the state, survivor groups, and lending partners-including Lendistry Home Loans-to expand rebuilding financing following the 2025 Pacific Palisades and Altadena wildfires.
Lendistry Home Loans recently announced its Disaster Recovery Mortgage Pilot, which includes a construction lending product designed to address financing gaps for homeowners rebuilding primary residences and eligible income-generating properties, including duplexes, triplexes, and accessory dwelling units (ADUs). The product is intended to support rebuilding efforts while creating opportunities for homeowners to incorporate revenue-generating properties alongside their primary residences.
The Disaster Recovery Mortgage Pilot is supported by experienced collaborators, including ServBank, which will provide mortgage subservicing and borrower support, and Granite Risk Management, an Altisource business unit, which will provide specialized construction oversight. Together, Lendistry Home Loans, Servbank and Granite bring the lending, servicing and construction infrastructure needed to help households navigate a complex rebuild from financing through construction completion and ultimately return home.
Homeowners can visit www.disasterrecoverymortgage.com to learn more about the pilot and sign up for updates. Homeowners not yet ready to take on financing are encouraged to visit The Center by Lendistry's LA Rebuild Hub (www.larebuildhub.org).
