As part of this collaboration, a tuning company is working with PA International in order to finalize the development and production of the intake manifold kit for the 2016 Nissan R36 GTR model.

According to PA International’s spokesperson, the company was asked to manufacture the carbon fiber intake manifold for the new high-performance engine.

"The 3.0L V6 turbo engine is a version of the 550 horsepower hybrid power unit shown in the Infiniti Q80 concept and is an excellent candidate for power upgrades," the spokesperson said. "It will take some precision metal fabrication and high tech carbon fiber materials that are put together to form variable intake manifold that will enhance engine volumetric efficiency to peak at two points: 5500 RPM and 7500 RPM."

To do this, PA International designers will have to change the geometry of the intake tract, a technique known as pulse tuning.

"The assembly will consist of improved cold-air intake, high-flow air filter, carbon fiber body intake plenum assembly, aviation grade aluminum intake fastening flange with custom electronic control module for variable geometry activation and an enlarged throttle valve," the spokesperson said. "There will be provisions at each port for water-methanol injectors supplied by UK-based business Aquamist." There are also cooling enhancements that are focused around a 120-kilowatt electric motor that is expected to operate outside its rated temperature range if the car is to be used on a track.

An active system that uses coolant and a passive system that utilizes a custom aluminum extruded heat sink with incorporated aerospace grade heat pipes, said the company’s spokesperson.
