Acquisition adds a national onsite power generation platform as electricity demand from AI, electrification and digital infrastructure outpaces the grid

MIAMI, FL / ACCESS Newswire / August 13, 2026 / Firefly Capital Management and its affiliates have acquired Gravity Power & Rental, a Houston-based provider of critical power generation and equipment rental infrastructure, in a deal that gives the private investment firm a national onsite power platform at the center of surging United States electricity demand.

With the transaction, Firefly takes ownership of a fleet of more than 2,000 power generation units, alongside rental equipment including fluid management systems, light towers, pumps and heaters. Gravity's more than 275 employees serve thousands of sites across 13 states, delivering power as a service for microgrids and onsite operations across energy, industrial and digital infrastructure end markets.

The acquisition lands at a moment when electricity has become one of the defining constraints on the American economy. Artificial intelligence, electrification and the digital infrastructure buildout are straining utility systems, with interconnection queues stretching for years. Private capital is converging on the resulting gap at record scale: infrastructure funds collected roughly 250 billion dollars in investor commitments in 2025, according to With Intelligence, while Goldman Sachs research projects that United States data center power demand will more than double between 2025 and 2027.

"Firefly is a long-term owner focused on energy and critical infrastructure," said Rob Rice, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gravity, who described the sale as the outcome of a months-long search for the right partner. "They believe in our people and in our mission: customer focused, reliable, efficient and safe power and rental infrastructure solutions."

Power as a service

Onsite generation units can be deployed to a site in days rather than the years required for a permanent grid connection, making them one of the few scalable answers to power scarcity available today. Gravity's fleet serves industrial facilities and remote operations beyond reliable grid access, utilities managing peak loads and outages, and digital infrastructure projects that cannot wait for permanent power.

"The Gravity team has built an industry reputation, fleet, safety record and customer relationships that took years in the field to earn," said Jon Doochin, Partner of Firefly Capital Management. "Demand for reliable onsite power is expanding rapidly, and Gravity has the fleet, the people and the customer track record to continue to be a market leader."

A long-term owner in critical infrastructure

The acquisition reflects Firefly's approach of partnering with management teams to build and scale companies in the sectors underpinning economic security. The firm positions itself as a permanent-minded owner, investing in people, fleets and capabilities through cycles. Gravity will continue to operate under its existing name and brand, led by Rice and the current management team.

"Gravity has earned its reputation one deployment at a time," said Jakob Blomqvist, Partner of Firefly Capital Management. "This team delivers for its customers every day, and we are proud to back them."
