NASHVILLE, TN / ACCESS Newswire / March 6, 2025 / Centerstone, a nonprofit health system specializing in mental health and substance use disorder services, has announced free brief outpatient counseling services for veterans and military families living in South Carolina. Through this new offering, active duty military personnel, veterans, and their family members can meet with specially-trained mental health counselors and can receive up to 12 visits completely free of charge.
It's well known that military life can be incredibly challenging. Long deployments, exposure to combat situations, frequent relocations, and temporary duty assignments can result in personal and family hardships. The challenges of military life impact not only service members, but also their spouses and children and can lead to issues including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), substance use disorders, and family and relationship difficulties. Many of these effects can last long after leaving the military.
Centerstone providers are specifically trained in military culture, so they understand a person's unique challenges related to military life. All services are confidential and are available regardless of the era in which the service member served or their discharge status.
