The anime that helped introduce a generation of American audiences to Japanese animation becomes the first anime license in Keepsake's growing collectible trading card portfolio.
LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESS Newswire / October 14, 2026 / Keepsake, in partnership with Tatsunoko Production, is proud to announce Speed Racer Keepsake Premiere Edition, the first anime trading card collection in Keepsake's history and a celebration of one of the most influential Japanese animated series ever introduced to American audiences.
Known originally in Japan as Mach GoGoGo, Speed Racer became one of the earliest Japanese anime series to achieve widespread recognition in the United States after its American debut in the late 1960s. Its distinctive animation, unforgettable characters and legendary Mach 5 helped introduce generations of American viewers to a style of Japanese storytelling and animation that would eventually become a global cultural phenomenon.
For Keepsake, that history made Speed Racer a natural choice for its first anime license.
"As Keepsake enters the anime category, we couldn't think of a more meaningful place to begin than Speed Racer," said Mathew Ezer, Head of Partnerships at Keepsake. "Speed Racer was a pioneer in bringing Japanese animation to American audiences, and decades later anime has become one of the most important forms of entertainment and collecting in the world. Starting our anime journey with a property that helped pave the way makes this collection incredibly special to us."
The inaugural Speed Racer Keepsake Premiere Edition will celebrate the characters, machines, artwork and unforgettable moments that have made the series an enduring part of anime history.
Collectors can chase a variety of short-print inserts, numbered parallels and ultra-rare 1-of-1 cards.
The product will also feature rare memorabilia cards and other premium hits, with some of the collection's most desirable cards appearing only as exceptionally limited 1-of-1's.
SPEED RACER KEEPSAKE PREMIERE EDITION
The debut release will feature Keepsake's hit-driven Premiere Breaker configuration:
2 Packs Per Box • 4 Cards Per Pack • 2 Hits Per Box
Each box will contain at least one numbered card or memorabilia/relic card.
"Speed Racer has been one of Tatsunoko Production's most iconic and enduring series for nearly six decades, captivating audiences with its unforgettable characters, the legendary Mach 5 and Shooting Star, and high-speed action. As we approach the 60th anniversary of the series in 2027, we are thrilled to partner with Keepsake on this special trading card collection. It is an exciting opportunity to celebrate the legacy of Speed Racer while introducing its world to a new generation of collectors and fans. We look forward to celebrating this milestone together with Keepsake and Speed Racer fans around the world."
