A New Module Brings Single-Source Version Control and Mandatory Currency Reviews to Enterprise Documentation
FALLS CHURCH, VA / ACCESS Newswire / September 15, 2026 / Integration Technologies Group, Inc. (ITG) today announced the release of the CENTRE Document Control System (DCS), the document and record control module of CENTRE, ITG's enterprise management suite. DCS gives an organization one controlled home for the documents that define how it works: a single approved version in use, the versions it replaced retained behind it, and a standing requirement that every document be re-confirmed by its author on a fixed cycle.
The Problem: Control, Not Volume
Most organizations do not have a document problem. They have a control problem. Approved procedures are copied to shared drives, attached to email, and printed into binders, and within weeks no one can say with confidence which version is current. Changes are made without approval. Obsolete copies stay in circulation. When an audit arrives, proving control of documented information becomes a project in itself.
One Approved Version - and a Full History Behind It
In DCS, a document is not changed without formal approval by its author or owner, and only the most recent approved version is available to users. The versions it superseded are retained and stay reachable from the document, separated from what is current, so the history of a procedure is not lost when it changes. Each document carries its classification, its authorship, and its named owner.
Currency Is Attested, Not Assumed
Finding the latest version answers only half the question. Under CENTRE, every document carries a review date, and two years after it is accepted the author is required to confirm it: still valid, in need of revision, or obsolete. Where the author confirms a document still stands, that confirmation is recorded against it with a date and time stamp, and a new review date is set.
Classification Built Into Every Document
Every document is assigned one of five classification levels governing its availability, running from public, through management tiers, to confidential, with a sixth value reserved for restricting obsolete material. Access is granted centrally, by associating user groups with classification levels, so a change of policy is made once rather than document by document.
Finding the Right Document, Not Just a Document
Users search by document number, version, title, abstract, file name, owner, classification level, author, department, document type, and keyword, with wildcards and multiple selections to narrow a list. Where the identifying details are not known, DCS searches the full content of every document in the database, using logical operators to combine terms. From an open document, its type, author, and department are each a link out to everything else filed the same way - because the question people actually have is what the organization says about a subject.
Documents an Organization Did Not Write
Customer documentation, hardware manuals, and supplier material are a defined category in their own right, submitted through their own approval route and held in DCS under the same classification scheme as everything else. Controlling documented information of external origin is an explicit requirement of the quality management standard, and it is easy to overlook while attending to the documents an organization authors itself.
Documents and Records, Kept Distinct and Kept Connected
CENTRE separates the two deliberately. The Document Control System holds what an organization will do: policies, procedures, work instructions, forms, manuals, and training material. The companion Records Control System holds evidence of what it did: audit reports, logs, progress and capacity reports. Instruction and evidence are different things, are governed differently, and are kept in separate systems on one platform.
Part of the Suite, Not a Separate Repository
Because DCS is a CENTRE module, controlled documents are not stranded away from the work they govern. Documents are associated with the positions that must follow them, and employees are associated with those positions, so a document reaches a role rather than a name and follows that role as people move. Meeting minutes and their assigned action items are tracked through to completion, with an interface into Change Management.
CENTRE runs as a web-based suite over a single database, covering IT service management, change and configuration management, release management, project and financial management, contract, risk and SLA management, human resources, supply chain, and measurement and analysis.
Proven on ITG's Own Operations
ITG has used CENTRE to run its own business for more than 20 years, and maintains ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 27001, and ISO/IEC 20000-1 certifications, CMMI-DEV and CMMI-SVC Level 3 appraisals, and CMMC Level 2 certification.
