Company Update
Windows batch converter now turns Shapefiles, KML, GeoJSON, GeoTIFF and other geospatial data into PDF, PNG and other everyday formats, so teams without GIS software can open and share maps
SEATTLE, WA / ACCESS Newswire / October 20, 2026 / reaConverter, a Windows batch file conversion program, has added support for more than 100 geographic information system (GIS) formats. The update raises the total number of formats reaConverter handles to more than 800. Users can now open and batch-convert geospatial files such as Esri Shapefiles, KML, GeoJSON and GeoTIFF into PDF, PNG, JPG, SVG and TIFF on an ordinary Windows PC, with no GIS application installed.
Geospatial data no longer stays inside GIS departments. Real estate firms receive parcel boundaries, insurers receive flood zone maps, utilities share network layouts, and agricultural teams exchange field boundaries. These files usually arrive in formats that only specialized GIS software can open. Staff who simply need to view, print or attach a map often have to wait for a specialist or buy a GIS license.
"Geospatial files have quietly become ordinary business documents," said Alexander Korostelev, CEO of ReaSoft Development. "A property manager gets a parcel map as a Shapefile, an insurer gets flood zones as KML. The people who need to look at those maps rarely have GIS software, and they shouldn't need it. Every file nobody can open is a small piece of format debt, and we wanted paying it off to be a batch job rather than a project."
From Shapefile to PDF in One Batch
reaConverter renders vector map layers and georeferenced rasters into standard images and PDF documents. Hundreds of files can be processed in a single run with the same output settings, which suits archives of survey data, site plans and recurring map deliveries.
Coverage Beyond the Common Formats
Alongside widely used formats such as Shapefile, KML, KMZ, GeoJSON, GML, GPX and GeoPackage, the update covers MapInfo TAB and MIF files, elevation data (DTED, SRTM HGT), weather data (GRIB), scientific grids (NetCDF, HDF), lidar point clouds (LAS, E57), OpenStreetMap extracts, map tile packages (MBTiles, PMTiles), GeoParquet and electronic nautical charts (S-57, BSB/KAP). reaConverter also reads CXF, the format Italy's Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate) uses to distribute cadastral maps of land parcels, buildings and roads. Surveyors, notaries and property professionals can render these cadastral sheets to PDF or PNG without installing GIS software.
Exchange Between GIS Formats
For users who do work in GIS tools, reaConverter can also export KML, GeoJSON and GeoTIFF data to the Esri Shapefile format, one of the most widely accepted formats for exchanging vector map data.
Automated and Local Processing
GIS conversion works with reaConverter's existing automation features: Watch Folders, which convert files as soon as they appear in a monitored folder, a command-line interface, and Windows Explorer context menu integration. All conversion runs on the user's own computer, so geospatial data is never uploaded to a third-party server.
Availability
GIS format support is available now in reaConverter 8.0.250 for Windows. A free trial can be downloaded from the reaConverter website, and paid plans start at $49. The full list of supported GIS formats is published on the reaConverter website.
