Company Update
BROOKFIELD, CT / ACCESSWIRE / April 13, 2023 / The earlier patients begin therapy following knee surgery, the quicker they recover and the better their overall outcomes. The problem is that due to post-operative pain, swelling, and limited range of motion, it is usually very difficult and painful for patients to move their knee.

As a result, they must wait several days, if not longer, to begin therapy. During that time, the patient's knee tends to stiffen, scar tissue develops, and muscles atrophy, all of which makes it even harder to begin the therapy they need to do to recover.
This is where the ROMTech Transformative Telemed Technology® comes in.
The PortableConnect is the flagship product of medtech company ROM Technologies®, known simply as ROMTech®. The company, spearheaded by CEO Peter Arn, has created and brought to market a next-gen telemedicine technology proven to achieve faster recoveries and superior patient outcomes.
The ROMTech PortableConnect achieves unparalleled post-operative outcomes by enabling patients to begin therapeutic motion immediately following surgery, thereby speeding recovery and decreasing post-operative pain.
Passive and Active Movement
When knee patients first begin rehab following knee surgery, they typically have great difficulty moving their knee on their own. As a result, in traditional therapeutic approaches, the patient's physical therapist will often hold their leg and move their knee for them, gently stretching the joint and gradually reintroducing motion to the affected joint. This is called passive movement.
The goal of passive movement is to ease the patient back into more active motion, in which they begin moving their knee on their own. Once a patient achieves active motion, they can gradually increase the amount of physical exertion, eventually performing motion against resistance to begin building strength.
One of the most powerful aspects of the ROMTech PortableConnect is that it has been specifically designed to move patients through each of these types of motion. Engaging these different types of motion helps patients regain full range of motion quickly and efficiently.
PortableConnect and Orthopedic Recovery
The ROMTech PortableConnect includes several adjustable and customizable features that help patients move easily and seamlessly from one stage of recovery to the next.
For example, the adaptive pedal technology of the PortableConnect automatically adjusts the device's pedal radius according to the patient's current range of motion. This allows patients to begin therapeutic motion even with the most severely limited range of motion.
Additionally, the device is equipped with four Dynamic Therapy Protocols: Passive, Assisted, Active, Resistance. In Passive Mode, the patient simply sits back and relaxes as the PortableConnect device gently stretches and moves their knee for them.
In Assisted Mode, the patient begins doing some of the motion, but still receives assistance from the PortableConnect device. In Active Mode, the patient does all of the work. And in Resistance Mode, the PortableConnect provides gentle resistance to the patient's motion so that the patient begins building strength.
Patients typically complete 3-5 daily therapy sessions on the PortableConnect and the PortableConnect automatically adjusts to wherever the patient is at in their recovery. This ensures a smooth and seamless recovery from start to finish.
Clinical studies, as well as testimonials from patients nationwide, demonstrate that knee patients who use the PortableConnect after knee surgery recover quicker, with significantly less pain than knee patients who receive traditional therapy only.
