MEXICO CITY, MEXICO / ACCESSWIRE / November 7, 2023 / New data from the global financial infrastructure platform, Stripe, reveals that the creator economy has grown exponentially since 2021, maintaining a consistent annual growth rate in Mexico and worldwide. The number of digital creators choosing Stripe's platform has surged to over one million people, up from 668,000 creators in 2021.
In the case of Mexico, the number of digital creators using Stripe has seen a remarkable 33% year-over-year increase. According to data presented during Social Media Week Mexico 2023, the Mexican market for creators could double in the coming years, reaching a revenue of $480 billion by 2027. In markets where Stripe operates, such as Brazil, the United Kingdom, Poland, France, Thailand, and Singapore, the number of digital creators using the platform has experienced double-digit growth.
Access to more and improved digital content platforms has allowed more individuals to transition from traditional employment to full-time work in the digital world. In Mexico, Stripe users dedicated to building digital communities are now averaging monthly incomes of $1,100.
"I believe that in the coming year, we will discover new digital products and services that we may not even realize we need at this moment. There will be significant innovation in the digital content offering because in this boom, anyone with an idea can bring their talent proposal to any niche and make it profitable," said Ale Rubio, the founder of Fit, a digital wellness community in Mexico.
According to Stripe, as creators can reach global audiences through the internet, they will need to address issues such as accepting payments in different currencies and converting recurring users into subscribers.
Ale Rubio emphasized, "Stripe's API documentation and services are undoubtedly the best in the industry, and implementing the payment system is straightforward. Stripe offers consumers the ability to sign up for and cancel a recurring charge easily, so if a subscription is as easy to cancel as it is to subscribe to, it definitely builds customer trust."
Another key point for Ale Rubio regarding the Stripe platform is that it provides structured data that can be used to analyze the business strategy and customer behavior, thus enhancing creators' business intelligence.
According to data from Influencer Marketing Hub in 2023, brands will spend approximately $21 billion on creator marketing, compared to just $1.6 billion seven years ago. Additionally, Forbes Top Creator 2023 data shows that the top 50 creators in their ranking will earn around $700 million in profits in 2023, a 20% increase from 2022.
