Montreal, Tuesday, April 14, 2010- Dr. Rajiv Datar, Co-President of Viropro, Inc., announces that the acquisition of Biologics Process Development Inc. of San Diego, California (“BPD”) from Intas Biopharmaceuticals Ltd. of India, has been successfully completed.
“As stated in our December press release, Viropro, Inc. will become the holding company of operating subsidiaries in Biotech Contract Research and Manufacturing Services (CRAMS); this is both a first step and a milestone for us and is in keeping with our long-term strategy of building a global biotech CRAMS operation” – comments Dr. Datar.
For more than 13 years Biologics Process Developments Inc. has specialized in contract laboratory services in molecular biology, recombinant protein expression and purification, cell culture, bacterial fermentation, frozen cell/material storage, and consulting in biologics process development and scale-up.
This acquisition is being paid entirely in common stock of Viropro. The Company is issuing 90,000,000 shares to Intas as payment.
As previously reported, Viropro is setting forth a global biotech Contract Research and Manufacturing Services offer (“CRAMS”). Biotech CRAMS consists mostly of outsourced research services from major pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies along the clone-to-clinic value chain, in line with international regulatory standards such as the USFDA and EMEA. Viropro intends to implement its business model through the merger or acquisition of existing facilities in Europe, North America and India.
