Cincinnati, OH - Overhead Door Company of Northern Kentucky, a Kentucky-based company that offers its residential and commercial customers a wide selection of garage doors, recently announced its decision to collaborate with Habitat for Humanity and St. Teresa of Avila in Cincinnati, Ohio to rehabilitate a home to celebrate the parish’s 100-year anniversary. For the church’s anniversary, Overhead Door Company of Northern Kentucky donated and installed a brand new garage door and garage door opener valued at $1200, even hauling the old door away at no cost.
Over the next year, Habitat for Humanity Greater Cincinnati will assist another 30 families in becoming homeowners, as well as help veterans who are struggling to keep up with critical home repair needs. Overhead Door Company of Northern Kentucky and Habitat for Humanity’s project allowed the St. Teresa community to “lead in faith” and make a positive impact on the company. Additionally, the project presented opportunities for volunteers of all ages to work together to make an impact on the community.
At this time, there is a great need for community service projects of this nature on the West Side of Cincinnati. The St. Teresa of Avila’s community service project provided a place for volunteers to connect with and meet new people and expand their circles of neighbors, knowledge, and understanding. Habitat for Humanity is an international non-profit ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing worldwide and making decent shelter a reality for all families by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and people.
"Habitat for Humanity projects are a hand up, not a hand out," stated a representative of the project. "Jesus is calling us to action – to do good works."
