ORLANDO, FL / ACCESSWIRE / March 18, 2016 / On Sunday March 6th, the City of Winter Park had their 37th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Park Avenue. One of the most entertaining participants was Trideck, a unique three wheeled skateboard/ scooter hybrid that anyone can ride. Trideck is a local company based in Deland and owned by James Wurst and Dave Solar. There were approximately 30 people riding Tridecks in the parade; the riders were comprised of men, women, the young, and the old. Also riding with them was Knightro, the mascot from the University of Central Florida (UCF), on his custom built Trideck complete with a sword and shield handle, and properly painted in school colors of gold to match Knightro's gold suit of armor.
The Trideck was invented by James Wurst, an adventure sports enthusiast. While experimenting in the garage one summer, James was trying to build a scooter that could be ridden hands-free. James wanted the handle to be optional, so the best solution was to add a third wheel for stability and make the device steer by leaning from side to side. The experiment worked, so James applied for a patent. Dave Solar, an associate of James' who was approaching retirement, was interested in the Trideck so the two of them became partners and formed a company to manufacture them. James is an alumni from University of Central Florida, so it is only appropriate that the company provided a custom built Trideck to the mascot, Knightro.
