The New Production is Scheduled to Be Performed During the International Women's Theatre Festival 2016 in Johannesburg in Early November
LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / September 23, 2016 / Rooted Productions is pleased to announce that their play "Femme Fatale – Violence is toxic…." was selected to be performed during the upcoming International Women's Theatre Festival 2016 in Johannesburg in early November.

The daring team at Rooted Productions is looking forward to bringing this story about an 18-year-old that refuses to plead guilty after stabbing her husband to death back to the stage. Femme Fatale is one of six productions that has been chosen from applicants across South Africa to participate in the upcoming theatre festival in Johannesburg on Saturday, November 5 at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, November 6 at 3 p.m.
As a spokesperson for Rooted Productions noted, the first time the production was staged, Mahomed and the cast received death threats.
"The team is aware of this potential, but are willing to risk it in order to deliver a powerful and gripping production about women driven to harm those they love," the spokesperson noted, adding that domestic and sexual violence in South Africa is a topic that needs to have attention drawn to it.
Rooted Productions, a Durban collective of performers devoted to theatre, works on a profit share basis where all members collaboratively invest their time, money, and skills and likewise share in the rewards.
By adapting Femme Fatale and performing it in Johannesburg in November, the team from Rooted Productions hopes to connect with the audience through the medium of live theatre and cross cultural, gender, and racial boundaries.
"The multi-racial all female production is sure to captivate audiences and fans of dangerous theatre," the spokesperson said.
In order to help pay for the production costs associated with bringing Femme Fatale to the stage, Rooted Productions recently launched a fundraiser on FundRazr. There, they hope to raise $5,000 through crowdfunding.
