Powe. Snowboards held an event at Bolton Valley Resort to bring together the community, clean up the local environment and gain valuable research on how to keep the mountains healthy
Burlington, VT / ACCESSWIRE / October 24, 2015 / Eco-friendly snowboard company, Powe. Snowboards held a cleanup event, called Powe. Mountain Project, at a Vermont ski resort. Participants collected trash on the mountain at Bolton Valley Resort on Saturday, Sept. 26. In addition, participants recorded what they found, where they found it and just how harmful it was to the mountain.
“This was an extremely successful event because not only were we able to clean up a large amount of garbage, but we were also able to get the community involved and have fun while doing it,” said Will Romeo, Vice President of Powe. Snowboards. “We got to be active in our community, meet people and spread the stoke of being environmentally conscious outdoor recreationalists and stewards.”
He added that the snowboard company in Burlington, Vermont, cleans the mountains and provides resorts with data in order to help them become more sustainable.
"We chose Bolton Valley for our first event because they are a very family-oriented mountain and show similar values as a local business," said Romeo. "As snowboarders we have also had the pleasure of riding the mountain and thought this would be a good opportunity to give back to Bolton."
Romeo said that by the end of the event, the team collected about 100 pounds of trash and just over 1,000 individual pieces of garbage off of the mountain.
According to the company’s website, the goal of this project was to foster relationships between communities and mountains that interact with one another and to promote more positive relationships between the two.
Romeo said he believes that even if it is one bag of trash at a time, that people can make a positive difference in the health of the environment.
Powe. Snowboards hosts their Mountain Mentors program at Bolton Valley Resort, so it was an opportunity for the company to share how environmental initiatives are important to them.
