SAN DIEGO, CA / ACCESSWIRE / August 5, 2021 / "Love is the ultimate renewable resource," said Rachel Schotz, co-founder and CEO of Dolfin, the first dating app for nature lovers. Her brother Matthew, Dolfin's other co-founder, added "and we believe the best way to save the planet is by coexisting with nature."

Let's take a step back to understand the context of how these San Diego siblings Rachel, 29, and Matthew, 32, found themselves at the forefront of the dating app world.

The pair have traveled the world and lived in Bali, Thailand, Australia, and Europe, delighting in making connections and absorbing new and different ideas from diverse cultures and individuals. They developed a network of friends and connections, an eclectic blend of students, entrepreneurs, doctors, musicians, travelers, scientists, yogis, and rice farmers, who all shared similar values, ideals, and world views, the most common thread being a true love for the natural world, putting the planet first.

During their time in Thailand, the duo co-founded BEACHUB, the world's first beachfront coworking space, featured in Forbes, American Express, and Huffington Post, and Karma Kafe, one of Koh Phangan's premier vegan eateries.

When the pair returned to their hometown of San Diego, the COVID pandemic was just beginning. As the world descended into a never before seen lockdown, they isolated themselves at home, having the time and opportunity to reflect on the seriousness of the situation and the increasing fragility of the natural world. They felt a strong need to contribute something to help the situation, to create a community in a new way. The idea for connecting people concerned with saving our world through a new kind of social media app, Dolfin, was born during this worldwide lockdown in response to the crisis on a global level. The planet was calling out for help.

Dolfin's influence need not be limited to only the current earth-conscious community. Instead, the founders see it as the bridge empowering a massive surge in the market size of those that recognize the urgency to care for the planet before it's too late. With rising oceans, natural disasters ramping up exponentially, and many ecosystems facing a breaking point - humanity needs to chart a new course forward, because mother nature is no longer asking for change - it is DEMANDING it!

"Like any real movement of people or thoughts this needs to be something that takes hold in the mainstream," Matthew continued "because influence creates change. That is why we are not simply targeting tree-hugging hippies or micro-communities, but instead, we are changing the narrative. How can caring about the planet be considered fringe or weird? We are making caring for the planet cool."

Their "pod" has grown to encompass a wide range of users including professional athletes, models, heads of NGOs, yoga teachers, tech execs, celebrities, and many other amazing individuals. Rachel explains, "Dolfin is much more than a dating app - it represents a lifestyle. And as our pod continues to grow it sends out a ripple effect uniting earth lovers, combining fun and sustainability. The events highlight the importance of recycling, composting, and climate crisis education while featuring green businesses that align with Dolfin's core values. Event partners have included sustainable swimwear made from recycled fishing nets: Tay-Bay Swimwear; vegan power cookies made from end of the day local restaurant food collection: SOULMUCH Foods; beach clean-ups put on by a local nonprofit: Purpose First Beach Clean Ups; and a locally brewed seltzer company that plants trees for every case sold: Passion Tree Hard Seltzer. These events double as socially conscious dating mixers where you are bound to meet all sorts of Dolfin."

Most recently the Dolfin team co-sponsored a 1,000 person Fourth of July concert in La Jolla, put on by local non-profit Fully Expressed Foundation. It was a sustainable event, made so by offering compostable cups and hydration stations. Clearly, the ripples of impact have only just begun, and the team will be completing a funding round this summer - spreading love and saving the planet along the way.
