AUSTIN, TX / ACCESSWIRE / May 22, 2023 / The Board of Directors of Santanna Energy Services (Santanna) is proud to announce that Board Chairman, T.W. "Wayne" Gatlin, will be retiring effective June 30, 2023. His retirement follows 35 years of service since founding the company in Austin, TX on May 12, 1988 alongside founding board members Tom Cook and J.D. Smith.
"We are deeply thankful for Wayne's passion and dedication to Santanna," said President Greg Rabaey. "He fostered an unwavering commitment to Santanna's brand and Employee-Owners throughout his tenure, and we are proud of his many contributions over the years."
Prior to founding Santanna, Gatlin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Mississippi State University and served in positions at Shell Oil and two other independent energy companies until 1988. Gatlin served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1966 to 1972 in the communications group of a 155-millimeter self-propelled howitzer unit stationed in his hometown of Waynesboro, Mississippi. He concluded his military service with the rank of Sergeant E-5.
In addition to his contributions on the business side, Gatlin has led by example through his kindness and generosity. "Wayne has always stepped up in a big way," said CEO Doug Cueller. "He cares about people. Following Hurricane Katrina and Rita, Santanna donated to the Hurricane Relief Victims Fund, and Wayne personally drove a truck filled with supplies to help those in need. Santanna has been nothing short of blessed with Wayne's leadership."
The Board of Directors and Employee-Owners of Santanna Energy Services extend their sincerest gratitude to Gatlin for his tireless commitment to the company and congratulate him on a well-deserved retirement.
Starting July 1, 2023, Gatlin will take on the role of Chairman Emeritus and Cueller will become Santanna's new Chairman of the Board. Rabaey will retain his role as President and additionally serve as the Chief Executive Officer going forward.
