The traditional approach to battery recycling is inefficient, costly, and requires high heat processes which are dangerous to the environment. The process requires multiple steps and involves several countries. ABTC's new method is streamlined and reduces waste.
Exactly how does it work? They begin with battery disassembly, in this step the battery's contents are disassembled and sorted in a high-speed manner. Next, they extract the materials, including scrap metals such as Aluminum, Copper, and Steel as well as high-value battery cathode metals such as Nickel, Cobalt, Manganese, and Lithium. Once the metals are extracted, they are ready to be purified, in this process, the individual metals are purified into battery cathode grade metals that are tested to ensure they meet the standards set by high energy density cathode manufacturers. Finally, the battery-grade materials are sold to OEMs and manufacturers.
