He carefully frees these nerves and ensures they remain intact during nipple removal and the surgery. At the end of the surgery when Dr. Sajan is placing the nipple back onto the chest, he precisely reconnects the nerves to the nipple with microscopic magnification. To make this connection, Dr. Sajan uses sutures thinner than human hair. Patients who undergo nerve reconnection during top surgery usually get 100% nipple sensation back, however, this surgery is newer and the success rate can vary.
