The Sonoma State University Sociology student and prison system reform advocate sat down to discuss his life, his scholastic career, and his personal philosophy.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA / ACCESSWIRE / August 10, 2022 / It is with great enthusiasm that Jeremiah Kitavi, prison reform advocate and full-time Sociology student, announces that he is the subject of a new, in-depth interview. The interview, which was conducted by an online periodical that concentrates on matters relating to business, technology, and leadership, was published on June 22, 2022.

Early in the piece, Jeremiah is asked about some areas where he hopes to apply his Sociology degree after graduating from college. "My focus is on criminal justice reform and rehabilitation. In America, we have 4% of the world's population, but 25% of the incarcerated people. This is not a good number since the U.S is the leader of the free world," he states, elaborating, "European countries like Norway for example focus on reform and rehabilitation and have a very low prison/jail population per capita in comparison to the U.S. It is obvious that our politicians and society as a whole don't care about this issue which leads to more issues in many communities especially those of color."

Further along in the interview, Jeremiah Kitavi addresses a question regarding how best to undertake large-scale prison system reform, considering that subject is the primary focus of his studies, explaining, "I would recommend some level of mental health reform applied universally to the nation's network of criminal rehab facilities. Therapy is a positive solution for everyone. It provides the tools and knowledge to deal with many problems properly, such as controversy, diversity, understanding of society, and how to fully and successfully reintegrate within society."
