BRANDON, FL / ACCESSWIRE / October 27, 2015 / 2010 was a tough time for businesses and even tougher for transmission repair shops. The economy was still at a low point and most auto repair shops were struggling, however, Ricardo "Rick" Wagner, the Cottman Man of Brandon, has turned things around.
Business has improved each year for the Brandon center, and this year's looking pretty good. "I recently started an outside sales program, and it's beginning to show some results," says Rick.
According to Rick, the key to his growth is educating the customer. "If you take the time to show the customer what's wrong and provide them with choices, they'll learn to trust you with his repairs," he says.
And adding Cottman's total auto care service model to his center has enabled him to build relationships with customers that carry over when the customers' transmissions need repairs.
More than anything, Rick takes pride in providing honest, capable repairs for his customers. His understanding of the systems on today's cars enables him to diagnose those cars properly, so his customers can be sure they'll never pay for a transmission unless they really need one.
And not just for retail customers, other shops in the area have learned to trust Rick when they have a problem they can't diagnose. If that problem turns out to be in the transmission, they'll often refer the repairs to his center.
Something else that Rick is beginning to offer is a computer reflashing service. That service allows him to update the computers in today's cars, to make sure they're running at peak performance. It's a big investment in both time and money, but it's one that Rick believes will pay off for his center and his customers.
It was a big move to step up when the shop was faltering, but it's one that's worked out well for Rick, for the franchise, and for their customers in Brandon.
