Mark and his fellow Canadian business partner, Av Grewal, got the idea for the product nearly four years ago on a trip to California. 'We already knew coconut water to be a huge hit around the world, and when we asked ourselves how can we bottle up a vacation, we both instantly thought of coconuts,' mentioned Av Grewal, Co-Founder and President at CoCo.
Both founders were surprised to discover that no one was mixing real coconut water and vodka or rum, so CoCo Vodka and CoCo Rum were perfected and are produced in Utica, New York.
CoCo was an instant hit through social media @enjoycocolife and early tastings with larger retailers. Of course, launching Coco Vodka and Coco Rum during the Covid pandemic hasn't been easy. These ready-to-drink cocktails debuted in July of 2020, despite shortages in aluminum cans within the United States. 'We don't recommend launching a new brand during a pandemic, but Av and I put way too much on the line not to keep moving forward!' Mark said. Their hard work and persistence paid off.
Partnering with Ben E. Keith Beverages for distribution, Texas will be the 26th state that CoCo has launched within the last ten months. 'We couldn't be more excited to hit shelves in Texas and to work closely with T.J. Samuelson, Texas Spirits Manager, and the team at Ben E. Keith,' mentioned Peter Murphy, Chief Sales Officer in the United States. T.J. added, 'The future is bright for the CoCo line, and we are very excited to introduce this unique and extremely refreshing brand to retailers and consumers across Texas.' Texas is also one of the first states to have all four flavors. CoCo Rum Original, CoCo Vodka Original, and the new CoCo Vodka Lime and CoCo Vodka Pineapple, respectively, have a splash of natural lime juice and real pineapple juice in them.
